Ted: You make a good point. I take it you saw G. I. Joe and regretted the decision? :)

Actually saw District 9 last night... ahead of schedule. Great, smartly made popcorn flick with just enough substance to get you talking after it's over. Talk about this year's least likeliest action hero!

My enjoyment was only dampened by the slobby slob sitting next to me who insisted on using his tongue to pick his teeth clean of popcorn kernels.

Agreed, this movie was excellent. There were definitely some rough edges, but for his directorial debut it's amazing.

Clinton: Why would you bother giving money to the idiots making trash like "G.I. Joe" when you could be supporting good, original movies?

Nice review, man. I really want to see this but... I also want to get the G.I. Joe movie out of the way first. Sorry District 9, hope you're not insulted!

[...] People are going to be absolutely blown away when they see District 9; the first feature film South African born, Vancouver, BC based filmmaker Neill Blomkamp. With the release of District 9 tomorrow, Blomkamp will quickly become the hot new director in Hollywood. His cinéma vérité style combined with his seamless integration of computer effects, make his work something entirely new and unique. This filmmaking style serves him well in District 9, making it one of the most original sci-fi films, nay one of the most original films period, that I’ve seen in years — see my full review of District 9 here.
