Jeff: Back from the Dead
Posted: November 8th, 2009 | Author: Jeff | Filed under: Feature | Tags: Blackest Night, comics, Marvel, Smallville, video games | No Comments »I am not dead. I actually just joined the Sinestro Corps and have been battling the Black Lanterns in a far off sector.
But in all seriousness, to avoid getting into the heavy details and making this post uber-bloggy, I will summarize by saying that my day job has been deliciously kicking my ass. However, the craziness is over and I shall get things back on track. I want to thank Will, Joel, Lucas and Raj for keeping us posted on the upcoming Thor and Green Lantern films and various comic related things.
So with that I’ll recap some things I’ve taken note of these past months I have been away:
Smallville Yes, I have been watching this guilty pleasure on the CW. January’s upcoming episodes will feature The Justice Society, including Star Girl, Dr. Fate, and Hawkman. Now why is this important? Well not only is this the first time these characters have been brought to life in live action, but also that they are being brought to the screen by DC Comics writer extraordinaire Geoff Johns. He scribed last year’s Legion episode, which in Superman lore is a very important storyline: the legion of superheroes travel back in time to draft Superman (then a boy) and show him how he will affect the world in the future. Other big things to look out for in Smallville are the appearance of Speedy (the Kevin Smith version), Green Arrow’s side kick, and the reincarnation of General Zod. Smallville is very entertaining, it has better character development, now and some stellar cameos.
DC’s Blackest Night Event – Seriously, check it and enjoy the awesome.
Marvel Comics – So much to discuss! Some of the recent highlights:
- Disney Buying Marvel – Wow.
- Astonishing X-Men/Spider-Woman Motion Comics – These are exciting and new ways to view incredible stories. The X-Men is a retelling of the Joss Whedon run and Spider-Woman is a new story from Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev. Check them out on iTunes.
- Invincible Iron Man and Daredevil are the best books you all should be reading.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Incredible. One of the best action adventure games I have ever played. Lots of fun and very entertaining.
Tekken 6
Campaign mode sucks, online play has some lag but I love my character selection.
Modern Warfare 2
Once MW2 is released I am debating making my columns Xbox Live exclusives, since I will be playing this game non-stop.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
My wife loves these games and I enjoy watching her play them.
Assassin’s Creed 2
Excited to see what Ubisoft Montreal has come up with.
The Venture Bros.
The new season has started and its less Brock, but all awesome. Featuring an excellent cameo from Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne in various DC projects) and lots more to look forward to.
