BANG!-The Bert Berns Story

The Shelf Minisode – Brett Berns on BANG! The Bert Berns Story

On this minisode of The Shelf, we have an interview that’s sure to be of interest to music fans: an in-depth chat with filmmaker Brett Berns about his film BANG! The Bert Berns Story.

The new documentary tells the story of his father, American music producer Bert Berns, one of the most important songwriters of the 1960s. You probably don’t know his name, but you definitely know his music. The elder Berns was involved in the creation of such iconic songs as “Twist and Shout”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Here Comes the Night”, “Hang On Sloopy”, “Under the Boardwalk”, “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” and countless others. The documentary chronicles Berns’ incredible life and career through interviews with music legends like Paul McCartney, Ben E. King and Keith Richards, just to name a few.

Our own Jason Gorber recently spoke with director Brett Burns about the decade long road to tell his father’s story and much more.
