By now, we’re all well and truly hooked on Game of Thrones. As the franchise approaches its seventh and penultimate series, this obsession sees no sign of slowing down – and so we’d better make the most of it while we can. Honestly, these weeks before a new season airs are possibly the most fun. The trailers are beginning to air, and now we’re just counting down until the release date – July 16th in the USA, with a simultaneous release in the UK in the early hours of the 17th, which just makes sense in this day and age, if you think about it!
It’s A Time To Reflect
In true Game of Thrones style (and let’s face it, in true long-running TV drama style), we were left with some massive bombshells and cliffhangers in the last series. What with pivotal moments such as Daenerys “Mother of Dragons” and her army finally sailing for Westeros, Arya Stark reclaiming her identity, and reveals such as the parentage of the now-King-of-the-North Jon Snow, what could that mean for other characters and the plot?
Better get yourself up to speed before going forward.
It’s A Time To Prepare
Filming wrapped in February, with actress Emilia Clarke stating that it’s a “real mindblower”. Given the series’ epic past, we can’t wait to see just how much more elevated that can even get. Clearing schedules is, of course, a must – and the Sunday Funday airing day is very wise on HBO’s part, as it truly means more people can get involved. If you’re across the pond in the UK, you might want to stock up on Red Bull. If you’ve got work on Monday morning, the 2am airing time is going to mean a late one!
Of course, this is a time for impatience, too. Keep yourself busy with some binging over the previous series and episodes you may well have forgotten. Little details may well become increasingly relevant! You can also immerse yourself into the franchise by playing games and such; Telltale’s episodic game series based on the franchise is a good choice, while William Hill’s slot game is themed, allowing you to pledge your allegiance to Stark and Targaryen, Lannister or Baratheon – and embark on a quest to battle for a place on the Iron Throne. There’s even treats like clips from the show to get you going, along with a whole host of motifs.
It’s A Time To Predict
On a general note, we think this series will see some incredible action from the female characters. We love that Game of Thrones knows no bounds between genders, meaning that it’ll yet again be Arya and Daenerys’ time to shine. Saying that though, we also think it’s Cersei’s time to die, so perhaps they’re not all so strong!
With the release of the trailer, came the first predictions, and the internet is full of them. No matter what you believe will happen, there’s one thing for sure – as always, there’s going to be plenty of drama, action… and bloodshed! And who knows, as Jon Snow and Daenerys will finally meet, will there even be romance?
So, what will happen? Remember, just because we don’t get the answers we’re looking for immediately, it doesn’t mean that they won’t come.FROM AROUND THE WEB
