Hot Docs to take over Bloor Cinema

It’s the end of an era for the historic Bloor Cinema, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Annex rep theatre. Earlier today, Hot Docs announced that it has entered into a joint venture with Blue Ice Film to manage and program the theatre beginning this Fall. The group also plans to revitalize the space by making much needed upgrades to the Bloor’s technical equipment; that means new projectors, a new sound system, new seating and more. A major overhaul of the lobby and the façade are also in the works. Continue reading

Game of Thrones Episode 1.2 Review

With the introduction and exposition heavy first episode behind it, Game of Thrones now moves onto the business of the story. In the wake of shocking conclusion of the first episode (incest and attempted child murder still qualify as shocking, right?), the second episode, titled “The Kingsroad”, quite literally takes the action on the road. Super 8 Theatrical Trailer Arrives

After releasing the theatrical trailer for J.J. Abrams’ new film Super 8 on Twitter last Friday, Paramount finally released the high definition version to the rest of the web today. Details about the Steven Spielberg produced film remain scarce, but judging by this new trailer we’d say that Super 8 looks like some strange amalgam of Stand By Me, The Goonies and War of the Worlds. HBO unleashed a new trailer for their upcoming fantasy series Game of Thrones today. Based on the novels of George R. R. Martin, Thrones revolves around the medieval world of Westeros, a turbulent kingdom where the ruling houses vie for control of the coveted Iron Throne. Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer Hits

The first trailer for the DC universe animated film Green Lantern: Emerald Knights debuted today. Emerald Knights is an anthology of short animated films, in the same vein as the Batman: Gotham Knight film that coincided with the release of The Dark Knight.
