New York based comedy group Free Love Forum take us behind the scenes of their latest production: the pirated version of James Cameron’s Avatar. It is a truly an envelope shattering experience.
The video really illustrates the absurdity of watching a pirated version of Avatar on a small TV, or for that matter pirated movies in general. Some things are just meant for the cinema.
This hilarious “Top 50″ video has been making the rounds online today, it highlights some of the 50 worst voice acting performances in video game history. Absolutely priceless. It takes me back to a more innocent time in my game filled youth.
Most of the games featured on the list are from the late 1990’s and were produced in Japan. Most of the awfulness can surely be attributed to voice actors just looking for a quick buck, but the writers and translators certainly bear some responsibility here. Some titles are so bad that they’re featured on the list more than once.
I’m sad to see that the atrocious voice acting from Castlevania Symphony of the Night did not make the cut. Truly terrible stuff.
The folks over at How It Should Have Ended are best known for their hilarious animated alternate endings to popular films. They have finally tackled the cinematic abomination that was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, showing the many different ways the film probably should have ended.
The HISHE team clearly has a love for Transformers, Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from them.
No, I don’t mean an Adobe Flash based game, I’m talking about the DC Comics character The Flash. A former employee of Bottle Rocket Entertainment has posted some footage from a very early build of their cancelled video game starring the Scarlet Speedster. While the game was only 6 months into development when it was regrettably canned for financial reasons, the sandbox game looks like it had a lot of potential.
Always sad to see what could have been; With this video at least we can appreciate what Bottle Rocket was trying to do. Saying that I would have liked to have played it is the biggest compliment I can give them. The Flash hasn’t fared too well in other mediums, thankfully we have the excellent ongoing comic series Flash: Rebirth to tide us over for now.
Musician John Boswell of Colorpulse has created perhaps the most unlikely music video you’ll ever see. Taking footage from the television series Cosmos (hosted by the late great Carl Sagan) and Stephen Hawking’s Universe, ‘A Glorious Dawn’ is a musical adventure through the world of cosmology. Featuring auto-tuned singing by none other than Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking, ‘A Glorious Dawn’ is a reminder of just how awesome these two are.
Honestly, how often are you going to see Carl Sagan beat boxing?
The Swedish electronica duo Rymdreglage put together an amazing music video combining two of my childhood obsessions: video games and Lego. 8-Bit Trip features nods to Tetris, Mario, Pac-Man and more.
Like any stop-animation, the video would have been insanely time consuming to produce. It allegedly took upwards of 1500 hours to animate!
As many Star Wars fans know, Jedi are able to manipulate the force in many ways. One of those ways is using the force to move extremely fast: force speed they call it. The climactic three-way (hot) battle from The Phantom Menace would have been a perfect time for Obi-Wan Kenobi to use the force in such a way. Sadly, he didn’t, and Darth Maul had his way with Qui-Gon Jinn. But what if Obi-Wan had used force speed?
I’m trying to think of a way to include more sexual innuendo in this post, but I’m drawing a blank. Something, something… double-sided lightsaber. This stuff writes itself!
We’re big fans of Valve’s Left 4 Dead here at Dork Shelf. YouTube user monkeyjunkie (one of the responsible for the Half-Life remake Black Mesa) put together a little machinima based on L4D set to the timeless music of Louis Armstrong. Do yourself a favour and watch the HD version.
BioWare and LucasArts have released a behind-the-scenes video for their upcoming massively multiplayer role playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic. The new video showcases actual gameplay for the first time, and gives an behind-the-scenes look at the recording of dialogue for the game.
After playing EVE Online and Age of Conan, I promised myself that I was finished with MMORPG’s. They’re too much of a time sink, even for a casual player like me. I was seriously let down by the last Star Wars MMO, Galaxies, and I don’t want to be burned again. That being said, BioWare is making this game; I don’t think they ever intended to make a cookie cutter MMO game. By what I’ve seen in this video, I may just lift my self-imposed ban on massively multiplayer games. Please don’t suck.
This amazing video was meant to be the introduction to an aborted documentary about video game addiction. Vimeo user MUSCLEBEAVER created the animation to show the evolution of video games, from Pong to the modern day.
Featuring nods to everything from Space Invaders, Super Mario Bros. 3, Escape from Monkey Island, Doom and Street Fighter II, the video is very probably not safe for work and possibly really crazy.
