So a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost walk into a bar... No, that's not the beginning of a lame dad joke, that's the premise of SPACE's supernatural dramedy Being Human. Okay, more like a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost move into a house together and hilarity/shenanigans/brutal killings ensue.
HBO further teased fans last night, revealing a moody and atmospheric trailer for their new fantasy series Game of Thrones. Based on the novels of George R. R. Martin, the series revolves around the medieval world of Westeros, a turbulent kingdom where the ruling houses vie for control of the coveted Iron Throne. Thrones features an amazing and sprawling cast that includes fantasy vet Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage and HBO alum Aiden Gillen.
Everyone's favourite polygamist family is back y'all! The fifth and final season of Big Love starts tonight at 9pm on HBO and it promises to be bigger than ever. It's like TLC's Sister Wives, except more dramatic and everyone is better looking.
Despite what your grandma might say to try and trick you into watching reruns of Perry Mason, the true 'Golden Age' of television is right now and 2010 was an especially good year. Returning favourites like Mad Men and Dexter continued their hot streaks while AMC's new drama The Walking Dead kept us on the edge of our seat and prepared us all for the impending zombie apocalypse. In comedy, FX's Louie made us laugh AND think while Sarah Palin's Alaska on TLC kept us all in stitches. That was a comedy, right?
The recent announcement about SyFy's cancellation of Stargate: Universe has certainly had a mixed reaction. While hardcore fans bemoan the loss of the show, other Stargate purists didn't appreciate SGU's grittier tone. One troll even described it as 'watered down, soap opera garbage'. Many blame this on the network having moved the show to Tuesday nights in order to make room for WWE Friday Night Smackdown. That's set in space or something, right?
We recently had an opportunity to sit down and chat with Canadian actor Ryan Robbins from the hit sci-fi series Sanctuary. Robbins may also be familiar to viewers for his featured roles on Battlestar Galactica, Caprica and the steampunk web series Riese.
Marcus Hearn’s new book, The Avengers: A Celebration is an extremely well detailed journey through the creation, heyday and eventual demise of the classic show, and a treat for those like me who haven’t seen the entire show, for avid fans who want to know the inside scoop, and for those interested in the inner workings of this interesting period of television history.
If you’re one of the many people who think Canadian TV is crappy, maybe it’s time you stop tuning in to Little Mosque on the Prairie and start watching SPACE network’s Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. This home-grown Canuck series finishes off tonight with an hour long bound to be epic season finale and believe us, this show is worth watching.
Prior to the season finale of Boardwalk Empire, HBO offered a 15 minute behind-the-scenes look at their new fantasy series Game of Thrones. The sprawling series is based on the Song of Ice and Fire novels by author and former TV scribe George R. R. Martin. Game of Thrones revolves around the medieval world of Westeros, a turbulent kingdom where the ruling houses vie for control of the coveted Iron Throne.
If you haven't been watching AMC's The Walking Dead this season, what have you been doing?! Since the season is only six episodes long, there's still time for you to catch up before tonight's presumably awesome finale.
HBO debuted our first real look at their new fantasy series Game of Thrones last night. Based on the novels of George R. R. Martin, the series revolves around the medieval world of Westeros, a turbulent kingdom where the ruling houses vie for control of the coveted Iron Throne. Thrones features an amazing cast sure to attract dork and non-dork audiences alike — including Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage and Aiden Gillen.
Our new TV Dork, Kathleen tackles Glee and tackles it hard. No show on TV can make me feel such an array of emotions with a single episode... Anger, embarrassment, disbelief, and nausea to name a few. Let me start off by saying, I get why people enjoy this show. It’s light and it’s fun, the characters are endearing, the musical numbers are interesting, and the guest stars are huge. That being said, this show makes me want to punch a baby.
We had a chance to see the first two episodes of the new Marvel animated series Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The show has some big shoes to fill, but Marvel has learned from their missteps and enlisted some serious talents to help mold this show into something that can be held up with the other fantastic comic book-based animation. Marvel Studios has totally nailed it.
Last week's episode Stargate Universe provided a nice conclusion to the cliffhanger ending of season one, but also left many issues unresolved. Things are starting to get back to normal aboard the Destiny, or at least as close to normalcy as it can get on a ship lost on the other side of the universe.
Incursion (Part 3) is the third part of the cliffhanger season one finale of SGU. Members of the Lucian Alliance have boarded the Destiny and taken members of the crew hostage. TJ (Alaina Huffman) has been shot and the life of her and her unborn child hang in the balance. The Lucian leader, Kiva, has also been shot in the struggle, leading to tension amongst the guerrillas. With their leader incapacitated, Kiva's subordinates begin to squabble over the leadership of the group, with one sect wanting to treat the Destiny's crew humanely and the other opting to just kill them all.
We caught up with Stargate Universe actor David Blue at Fan Expo this year and were very pleased to discover that he more than lives up to his character's dorky reputation. Blue plays resident geek Eli Wallace on the sci-fi series, helping to save the Destiny with his genius and dropping delightfully nerdy references in a charming, yet slightly inept attempt to lighten the mood of his fellow space castaways.
Johnny Yong Bosch was one of the featured guests at this week’s Fan Expo Canada in Toronto. At two panels last Sunday he took questions from large crowds of fans about his career. Many current fans will know him as the voice of Ichigo in the English dubbed version of the anime Bleach, as well […]
AMC has just released the trailer for their new zombie-apocalypse TV series The Walking Dead which debuted at San Diego Comic Con last month. The series is being run by writer/director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) and Gale Anne Hurd, the producer of Aliens and The Terminator. The Walking Dead is based on […]
